TOANO, VA - David H. Jeffrey went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 13, 2014, having died peacefully at his home in Toano, VA, at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Thelma Jeffrey; son, David M. Jeffrey and wife, Linda, of Mechanicsville, VA; daughter, Audrey Jeffrey of Newport News, VA, and step-daughter, Nancy Anderson and husband, David, of Yorktown; with many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Goodrich Jeffrey; parents, Ralph and Hattie Jeffrey, brothers, Kermit and Joseph Jeffery. He was a World War II, Army veteran, and worked for the Newport News Shipyard before entering trade school to be a watchmaker, his primary profession. He owned Longview Peach Orchard in Chuckatuck, VA, before working for Wiley Laboratories in Hampton where he retired after 14 years. In retirement he kept a small orchard in Toano, until he was age 85. He was a skilled mechanic, invaluable over the years to the family. He and his wife attended several churches in the Williamsburg area, lastly at Smith Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am, Thursday, April 17, 2014, in Colonial Funeral Home, 1515 S. Church St., Smithfield, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Interment will follow in St. Luke's Memorial Park, at Benn's Church, Virginia, with military honors. Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA
