Obituary Condolences

WINDSOR, VA - Walter Henry Elliott, 90, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Riverside Regional Medical Center following a recent illness. Born in Northampton County, NC, Walter was the son of the late John Henry and Manie Liverman Elliott. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Anna Barlow Elliott; his devoted son, Wayne Randolph Elliott; his two granddaughters, Ann Marie Elliott and Amy Beth Vick and her husband, Davis; two sisters, Annie Elliott Nurney of Portsmouth and Sarah Elliott Britt of Smithfield; and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family. A resident of Isle of Wight County most of his life, Walter was a self-employed farmer. He was a heart surgery survivor and was a strong participant in the Mended Hearts Chapter, #119, of Riverside Hospital. Walter was a member of Central Hill Baptist Church and the Young Men's Sunday school class. Family and friends will gather for visitation 6:30-7:30 pm, Thursday, April 17, in Colonial Funeral Home. A service celebrating Walter's life will be held 11:00 am, Friday, April 18, in the funeral home with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Memorial Park. The family expresses thanks to the staff and doctors of Riverside Hospital for their concern and care during Walter's illness. The family suggests memorial contributions to the , IOW Chapter, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060; Isle of Wight Rescue, PO Box 97, Smithfield, VA 23431; and Central Hill Baptist Church, Building Fund, 10270 Central Hill Road, Windsor, VA 23487.
