NEWPORT NEWS: - Newport News: Thomas Leslie Siverling, 71, formerly of Apollo, PA was called home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2014. He was born in Lackawanna, New York on December 13, 1942, the son of Helen V. (Kinter) Myers and Leslie Thomas Siverling who preceded him in death. Tom served in the Army at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. After leaving the service, he returned to Apollo, PA where he worked for the American Institute of Research as a drafter and then with Babcock and Wilcox as an Incinerator Operator. He moved to Newport News in 1988 where he was employed as a Designer by Newport News Shipbuilding until he retired in 2012. He was a true and faithful member of the World Outreach Worship Center (formerly Denbigh Church of God) where he served on the church and pastors council, in the choir and in dramatic programs. He also volunteered at local nursing homes, singing and playing piano. Tom's favorite activities and interests included gardening, woodworking, singing, playing piano, model trains and crafts. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Johnson) Siverling whom he married on May 13, 1967; two sons, Darryl Thomas Siverling of Newport News; and Kirk Leslie Siverling of Bedford, PA; two daughters, Anna Beth Carter and Rebecca Joy Payne, both of Newport News, sister Nancy McCormick Campitella of Spring Church, PA and brother, Jeff McCormick of Tarpon Springs, FL., eight grandchildren along with nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service , conducted by Pastor Russell Evenson and Pastor Bob Collins, will be held at World Outreach Worship Center on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be private.
