HAYES - Marsha Jean Hughes passed into peace in the company of her partner, Kenneth Hall at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, Virginia on Monday, June 30, 2014. She was 62 years old. She was born to Jack and Jean Murray on December 6, 1951 in Boston, MA. The oldest of five, she graduated from East Boston High School in 1969. She married in 1973, briefly lived at various locations around the U.S. before settling in Gloucester thirty years ago. She was employed for many years at Level Green Plantation in Robins Neck, and as a housekeeper at other estates. Later, she was employed by the Yorktown Victory Center, where she happily remained until her passing. Her personal interests were amateur collecting and reselling online. She enjoyed frequenting auctions and yard sales, and searching for hidden treasures. She also enjoyed traveling to visit family. She was a proud survivor for more than twenty years as the recipient of a liver transplant. Marsha, the mother of two, and grandmother of two will be remembered for her unbounded kindness and warmth, her charity, and her humor by those who love her. She is survived by her mother, Jean Murray of Winthrop, MA; her loving partner, Kenneth Hall of Gloucester; her son Eric Hughes and partner Alison Cobianchi of Tampa, FL; her daughter Kristin Deptola and son-in-law, Dave Deptola, as well as two grandchildren, Logan Emerson and Ethan Deptola of Mathews. Her memory will also be cherished by her surviving siblings, Jack and Barbara Murray of Lynn, MA; Jane Flaherty and partner Emanuel Gondolfo of Revere, MA; Patricia Evans Nichols and Peter Nichols of Winthrop, MA and Kathleen and Dale Woytaszek of Tuftonboro, NH. A memorial service officiated by Reverend James Cowles will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Private entombment will be at Windsor Gardens Cemetery and Mausoleum.
