Elizabeth Ashe "Betty" Goodwin Obituary
NEWPORT NEWS - On August 15, 2014, Elizabeth "Betty" Ashe Goodwin slipped into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was reunited with her beloved husband, Curly. Betty was predeceased by her parents, William and Inez Ashe and brothers, Bill and Sonny. Left to remember the great times are her daughters, Betsy Davis (Ron) and Patsy Martin (Jimmy); granddaughter, Mary Burgett (Brad); great-grandchildren, Delaney and Joshua and her dear friend Carol. She was born October 23, 1923 in Hampton Virginia, graduated from Hampton High School and attended Shenandoah Conservatory of Music. After retirement from Verizon, she and Curly enjoyed years of cruising the globe, spending time at the beach with family and friends and going to Anderson's every Friday. Betty will always be remembered for her love for family, impeccable style, shopping and beautiful smile. She was a faithful member of Coastal Community Church. Our family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her many friends at the Arbors in Port Warwick, Dr. Scott Banning and Barbara Fulgham and the extraordinarily exceptional care received at the Riverside Hospital ACE unit. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 21 at Coastal Community Church, 6406 George Washington Memorial Highway, Yorktown, VA 23692 with visitation following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Coastal Community Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 1506, Yorktown, VA 23692. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
