POQUOSON - Lt. Col. Gerald Ernest Dixon, Army, retired, 65, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, from Alzheimer's. Lt. Col. Dixon was the recipient of the Silver and Bronze Star.
Survivors include his best friend and wife of 43 years, Donna Dixon; two daughters, Teresa Koppie and her husband, Jeff of Annandale, Va., and Kimberly Stone and her husband, David of Newport News; three sons, Thal Dixon and his wife, Claudia of Sandy, Utah, Guy Dixon and his wife, Carrie of Cherry Point, N.C., and Drew Dixon and his wife, Amy of Newport News; three sisters, Margerie Boren and her husband, Bob, Cheri Anderson and her husband, Mike, and Sandy Dixon; two brothers, Stan Dixon and Ron Dixon and his wife, Jeannie; and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Poquoson Ward Building, 113 Sinclair Lane, Yorktown, VA 23693, officiated by Bishop Stewart Owens. Burial will follow in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the , Southeastern Virginia Chapter, 6350 Center Drive, Ste 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
