HAMPTON - Milton Monroe Whitaker, 79, died on Friday, April 2, 2010, from complications from Mesothelioma after a brief illness.|
Mr. Whitaker retired from Marva Maid Dairy in October 1992 and enjoyed much traveling. He was a pioneer partner with Verizon Telephone Pioneers of America and enjoyed working with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Early and Effie Whitaker; a brother, M.L. Whitaker; and sister, Opal Feller.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Wilma Snyder Whitaker; daughter, Terry Greer and husband, William; three grandchildren, Britney, Brandon and Tabitha; four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Kameron, Caitlin and Christopher; and a sister, Irene Stevens and husband, Needham.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 5, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Bethel Temple Church, 1705 Todds Lane, Hampton, VA 23666, with Pastor Glenn Reynolds and Pastor Willie Vines officiating.
