GLOUCESTER - Harlene B. Umphlette, 70, died Aug. 5, 2010, at her home with family at her side.

Harlene was a native of Ohio. She was a kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She took great pride in her grandchildren and being with them. She was greatly loved and will be missed dearly.
Her parents, James and Hazel Bocook; and sister, Connie Jamerson preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Henry Umphlette; three daughters, Jackie Venable, Patricia Nelson, Harlene Malbon; son, Ben Venable and wife, Samantha; three sisters, Wanda Sprouse and husband, Willard; Linda Davis, Marilyn LeCroy; 12 grandchildren, Angel Venable, Frankie Venable, Lawanda Venable, Danny Venable, Aaron Venable,
Jeremy Nelson, Tonia Nelson, Dicey Nelson, Amanda Nelson, Camellia Venable, Shawn Venable and Spencer Venable; nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, with the Rev. Arthur L. Wolz Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery.
