HAMPTON - On Thursday morning, Oct. 14, 2010, God opened His gates and sent His Heavenly angels down for 28 year old, Jamar Datwan Ford at Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton, Va.
Jamar was born on Feb. 19, 1982, in Franklin, Va., to Cynthia Ford and Percell Porter. He was raised in Hampton, Va., from a young age where he was educated and graduated in 2000 from Hampton High School. After graduating from high school, Jamar also attended Virginia State University. Prior to his passing, he attended the Day Program through the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board.
Although coping with a life-changing illness, Jamar remained positive and optimistic about life. He was a very loving son, brother and friend. He was also a caring and giving person who loved to help everyone. He had a cheerful smile that would brighten your day and he always seemed to bless others with his personality and kind words.
Jamar leaves to cherish his precious memories his mother, Cynthia A. Ford of the home; his father, Percell Porter (Brenda) of Franklin, Va.; his grandparents, Ms. Thelma L. Ford of Maryland and Ms. Ruth Porter of North Carolina; two sisters, Chamia Ford of Richmond, Va., and Kiera Ford (Taye Sauls) of Valdosta, Ga.; two brothers, Tremaine Porter and Anthony Porter both of Franklin, Va.; nieces and nephews, Ary'an Sauls, Jerian Sauls and Samiah Sauls all of Valdosta, Ga., and Shakeira Porter of Franklin, Va.; aunts, Connie Ford of Franklin, Va., Bonnie Britt (Shawn) of Maryland, Evangeline Burton (Johnny) of Zuni, Va., Janice White (Albert) of Suffolk, Va., Della Rooks (Thomas) of Maryland and Virginia Parker of North Carolina; uncles, Lonnie Ford (Ernestine) of Franklin, Va., Darnell Wiggins of Richmond, Va. and Edward Britt of Franklin, Va.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Chapel.
