He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Vickie Matthews Myers; his son, Andrew Wayne Myers; his daughter, Deanna Hartley and husband, Tim of Lumberton, N.C.; his son, Chad Myers and wife, Marcia of Fordsville, Ky.; his sisters, Ann (Kent) Oaks, Arline (Bill) Bowman, and Christine (Bob) Brouillard, all of Florida, Debbie Becker and Cathy (George) Briggs of Michigan; brothers, John (Lenore) Wood of Hampton and Patrick Becker of Michigan; in-laws, Chris and Joyce Matthews and brother-in-law, David of Newport News; brother-in-law, Lee (Christine) Matthews of Hampton; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
It was Russell's wish that his body be donated to science so that he could help others.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Pine Chapel Baptist Church, 1544 W. Queen Street, Hampton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bank of America (Hilton Branch) in Andrew's name for his continuing college education.
