Christopher TURLINGTON Obituary

PORT REPUBLIC, MD. - Christopher Andrew "Chris" Turlington passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 19, from an aneurysm. He was 37.
Originally from Gloucester, Va., Chris graduated from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va., with degrees in history and religious studies. He was a proud brother of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and was instrumental in the re-colonization of Kappa Sigma at Randolph-Macon. Upon graduation, he went on to work for Kappa Sigma, proudly helping consult other chapters on the Eastern seaboard. It was through Kappa Sigma that he met his wife, Rae Anne Turlington.
Chris was a beloved teacher at Patuxent High School, sharing his passion for history with his students daily. He was very active in the athletic department at PHS, having coached the girl's varsity basketball team. He also coached his son's t-ball team and basketball team. Chris enjoyed watching his daughter learn to swim and dance. He was an avid sports fan and self-proclaimed connoisseur of beer.
Chris' family was the light of his life, and he was a devoted father, husband, son, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Rae Anne (Edwards); and his beloved children, Hunter (7) and Olivia (3), all of Port Republic, Md. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Pete Turlington, of Gloucester, Va. Survivors include his mother, Jackie Turlington; sister, Carrie Turlington Provensen and brother-in-law Ethan Provensen, all of Gloucester, Va.; mother-and father-in-law, Pam and Jim Edwards, of Bethalto, Ill.; sister-and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Jerry Wood, of Denver, N.C.; and nephew, Trenton; and niece, Avery, of Denver, N.C.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 23, at Rausch Funeral Home in Lusby. Funeral and celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lusby, Md.
In lieu of flowers, a trust has been set up for his children's college education. Contributions can be made in the form of a check to the Christopher A. Turlington Memorial Fund at PNC Bank, P.O. Box 192, Solomons, MD 20688. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Chris and I graduated from HRA together. He was a good friend in high school-always quick with a smile and a friend to all. I am sure he was a wonderful husband and father to his two kids. My heart and prayers go out to your whole family during this difficult time.

I was so sorry to hear of Chris' passing. I was wondering what he was up to since we lost touch after college. Nelly was instrumental in my joining Kappa Sigma. He was a Senior when I was a Freshman but with both of us coming from small towns he took me under his wing. I have very fond memories of him. AEKDB Brother until we meet again.

Dear Mrs. Turlington,

You probably will not remember me, but I wanted to express my sincere sympathy to you and your family.

In March 1975 our sons were born at Riverside Hospital. I will never forget that day as we were all standing at the window adoring our newborns and everyone remarked about the beautiful baby boy who outweighed all of the other babies. All of a sudden I heard this voice say, "He's my son." I turned around and there was Pete Turlington! He and I (and his sister, Anita) grew up together and attended the same schools. Pete introduced me to you and we all marveled at the fact we had not seen each other for years and there we were together adoring our baby boys born at the same time. We even named our sons the same name - Christopher.

It is with deep sorrow that I extend my heartfelt sympathy to you, your family members and to your son's wife & children. My heart aches for you all at this most difficult time.

Cherish the wonderful memories of Chris and may they bring comfort to your broken hearts now and in the days ahead.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless you all.

I attended school with Chris' father, Pete. Although I did not know Chris, I am sure Pete & his family were ever so proud of him judging from the comments about him. It seems he epitomized character, respect, loyalty & love. His family & friends were so very fortunate to have had him in their lives. He was truly a gift from God. God bless his family & I will pray for peace for them.
