Lillie M. BELL Obituary
WILLIAMSBURG - Lillie M. Bradley Bell went to be with the Lord on Tuesday night, Oct. 30, 2012, in her home.
She was born on May 29, 1943, in James City County, the 14th child of 16 children of the late Rosezelia and King Roberts Sr.
She attended Williamsburg-James County Public Schools, graduating from Bruton Heights School in 1961. After graduation, Lillie married the late Leroy Bradley Sr. They were blessed with three children, Leroy Bradley Jr. (deceased), Ramona Bradley Phipps (deceased) and Joseph Lamont Bradley. Several years after the death of Leroy Sr., Lillie joined hands in marriage with the late Everett Bell.
Lillie was employed by Colonial Williamsburg for many years, retiring in 1997, when her health began to fail. At a young age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour. Lillie was baptized and became a lifelong member of Little Zion Baptist Church, in Grove. Lillie's love for God and the church never wavered. An active and outgoing person, Lillie embraced life and people. She made friends easily, and her home was always opened to family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Lamont Bradley (Martina); her grandchildren, Demetrius Phipps Jr., LaShawnda Seay (Alvin), Tiffani Bradley, Te'Aira Bradley, and Toyia Price; her great-grandchildren, Bryce Phipps, Josiah Seay, and Aniyah Bogger; her sisters, Catherine Dickerson and Amanda Roberts; her brothers, Dea. William Leroy Roberts, Charles Roberts, and the Rev. Carl Roberts; her many nieces and nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in Little Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Linwood Gatling officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 905 Jackson Drive by noon on Saturday. Mrs. Bell was viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral. Professional service entrusted to the staff of Whiting's Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg. 757-229-3011.
