Bettie White Obituary

YORKTOWN - On January 24, 2013 Bettie Lou White passed from this life to an eternal life with her Savior after a short, tough battle with cancer. Bettie was born on April 22, 1940 to Thelma & George Simpson. Always a child of God, Bettie accepted Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior at an early age. She married Ernest White in Sept 1959. From that union they raised four fine children; Rusty, Keith, Donna & Audrey. Bettie is survived by her husband of 52 years, her children, her 8 grandchildren Adam, Stacie,Phillip, Benjamin, Wesley, Heather, Timothy, and Tyler, her 3 great-grand children and her loving sister Barbara. Bettie served others her entire life. She saw hunger and worked with SHARE to feed the hungry. She saw the uneducated & helped her children and grandchildren achieve higher educations. At the age of 60 , Bettie received her own degree.She saw suffering and worked as a CNA ,refusing to retire as long as others needed her. She enjoyed working with Home Helpers. A special thanks to Gail & Polly of Home Helpers. She saw children with no families and opened her home & heart to the adopted. Her door was never locked, no one ever knocked, no one went hungry, She had a hug for everyone. Bettie is with God & her family thanks Him for His Mercy. Services to be held Sunday January 27,2013 at 4pm at St Luke's United Methodist Church 300 Ella Taylor Rd, Yorktown,VA 23692.

We lost Bettie much sooner than we were prepared for and it is a loss that we feel deeply. Our hearts go out to her family and friends and know that God's grace and understanding will see them through. Bettie remains a cherished part of us forever. Gail Stathers and the Home Helpers family.
