NEWPORT NEWS - Clotaire Wood of Newport News, 93, died February 1, 2013. He was an aeronautical engineer, retired, who worked for NACA at Langley Field from 1942 and in Washington D.C., for NASA from its conception, serving as NASA' s European Representative from 1966 through 1969, and for the National Academy of Sciences Space Application Board after his retirement from NASA in 1972. Clo had a deep love for his family and his extended family, and they for him. He is survived by his wife Florence Lee Timberlake Wood, to whom he was married for 68 years, and by his four children: Sherri, Chris, Pamla and David, and seven living grandchildren: Danny, Heather, Brian, Melissa, Briana, Sophie and Aja, as well as two great grandchildren, Caitlin and Dylan. He will be deeply missed by each of them. There will be a private family service celebrating his life at such time as the entire family is able to be together.
