Giles served his country proudly in the aircraft maintenance field for 21 years at various bases stateside, and in Vietnam, the Philippines, Turkey, and Japan overseas, retiring as a senior master sergeant in 1983. In retirement, he continued to serve his country as he supported his wife's 28-year Air Force career , which took them to even more bases stateside and to Greece and Germany. Contributions in his memory may be made to the United Service Organization (USO), which provides comfort and cheer to service members and their families worldwide. Kudos to the York County EMTs who responded promptly and gave Giles a fighting chance.
