YORKTOWN, VIRGINIA - Daniel Garland Autry passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness. He was born in Lee Hall, VA and was a lifelong member of Denbigh Baptist Church. He was a decorated Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from Civil Service at Fort Eustis in 1989 after 38 years of service. Daniel is survived by his wife of 60 years Shirley B. Autry; 2 sons, Stan and Scott Autry and a daughter, Kelly Jones and her husband Jeff; 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; and 3 brothers Jim, John and Eugene. Daniel was loved and admired. He was a great story teller who could often be found piddling around in his garden. A funeral service will be held at Noon on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Denbigh Baptist Church, with Rev. Lindsay Poteat and Rev. Richard Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
