NEWPORT NEWS - Mrs. Thelma Midkiff, 81, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013, after an extended illness under the care of Personal Touch Hospice. She was born in Crew, Va. but resided in Newport News for the past 66 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Eugene R. Midkiff, Sr. and her grandson Terry Allen Robbins. Survivors include one son, Eugene Midkiff, Jr. and wife, Joyce; daughters, Anita Rowe and husband, Steve and Cris Robbins and husband, Tiny; three sisters and two brothers, Shirly Anderson and husband, Corky, Mary Agnes Smith, Carolyn Latoski, Walter Toone, Bunky and Verra Midkiff and a loving niece, Debbie Midkiff. Thelma was blessed with six grandchildren, Kevin, Jennifer, Kristan, Karen, Gaige, and Angelique. She also had seven great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ciara, Alysa, Marissa, Brianna, Chyenne, and Kamren, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and family members. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Joe Hunt at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements are in the care of Peninsula Funeral Home and Crematory.
