NEWPORT NEWS - Allen W. "Jeff" Alcorn, Sr., 79, passed away at home on Friday, October 25, 2013. A native of Texas, he was a resident of Newport News, VA for more than 30 years. Jeff served in the US Navy and retired from BASF after over 20 years of service. He was an avid, accomplished bowler, a Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan and a dedicated fan of his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. Jeff loved watching classic westerns, winning at a game of pinochle or dominoes and dressing sharp as a tack when he stepped out on the town. He shared his love of music as "DJ Jazzy Jeff", best known for his days DJing at the historic Warwick Lounge. He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores "Cookie" Alcorn; 5 brothers; 3 sisters; and his favorite niece Pat Evans, who also passed away on the same day. He is survived by his current wife Mary Alcorn and their son Allen Alcorn, Jr. of Temple, TX; his daughter with Cookie, Theresa Alcorn of Oklahoma City, OK and stepson Robert Monger of Albuquerque, NM; sister Wanda Jean Harley of Indianapolis, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. A viewing will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Hornsby-Murcherson Funeral Home, 201 S 8th St, Temple, TX 76501.
