HAMPTON - Kenneth L. Wallace, 66, died Saturday, May 27, 2006. A native and lifelong resident of Fox Hill, Kenneth graduated from Hampton High School and served in one tour in the U.S. Army. He worked at NASA, retiring after 35 years of dedicated service. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Shirley Wallace; children, Pam Wise and husband, Gary, Linda Rowe, David Melton and wife, Carmen, Donna Melton, Marcie Morton and husband, Steve, Joseph Wallace and Barbara Moran and husband, Bubby; significant others, Chris, Dave and Hazel. He was lovingly known as 'Popeye' to his nine grandchildren, Clint Melton, Brandon Rowe, Amber Rowe, Derek Melton, Amanda Wise, Ashley Morton, Joshua Moran, Alex Morton and Meghan Moran. Hunting, the water and raising dogs were all a part of his life for many years. Since his retirement, he had a garden that he enjoyed toiling countless hours in. From this garden, his most enjoyable moments came from sharing the produce with family and friends. Kenneth also loved the 'Fox Hill Turkeys.' Daily feedings, interviews with media personnel and his opposition to the trapping of them proved all too obvious that his love for wildlife was sincere. However, Kenneth's greatest love in life was his family. The family 'get together' for any occasion or for no occasion, family vacations in the summer in Nags Head or just stopping by to talk and visit for a while was something that he truly treasured. He will be sadly missed by those that he touched with his kind heart and his simple love of life. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Sharp with interment in Clark Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral Home. The family appreciates flowers or donations to the Clark Cemetery Association, c/o Mary Rouseau, 6 Riding Path, Hampton 23669.
