On Tuesday, October 5, 2010, just twenty-six days shy of his thirteenth birthday, Allen Michael Peregoy, known by many as AJ was taken peacefully by God with his mother Crystal and father Allen at his bedside following his fierce struggle with cancer.
AJ, better known as "Boo" to his parents, was born October 31, 1997, in Charlottesville, Virginia. AJ resided in the small rural county of Fluvanna in the town of Troy, Virginia. He was well known within his local community; he will be remembered for his captivating eyes and his sparkling, everlasting smile that could light up anyone's universe and take your heart away. AJ was friends with everyone, especially his classmates from Fluvanna Middle School where AJ attended and was so loved. The impact that AJ had on others during his all too short life was displayed most poignantly by all the support shown to him and his family during his illness.
Like most children his age, AJ enjoyed playing video games, listening to music, watching TV and scary movies with his mom, and of course playing sports. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and loved riding four-wheelers with his dad. He was curious and always sought out new, daring challenges and thrills.There was no stopping AJ. AJ shared his interests with his loving and devoted parents. Together they were the three musketeers, AJ, Allen and Crystal.
AJ was larger than life and was captivated by mostly by his love of baseball, his favorite sport. Raised as a Yankee fan, AJ began playing baseball at the age of six with Fluvanna Youth Baseball; donning the "#3" jersey year after year. AJ was a four time All-Star and he was a member of the 2009 "U-11" district winning team and state runner-up. After a stunning comeback from his illness, AJ played his last game at Carysbrook. During this game, he went one for one with a base hit and a walk. Although AJ played the infield and was a pitcher during his baseball career, on this day AJ played right field. AJ's catch of a fly ball in short right field helped propel his team to victory. Sadly, that would be his last day on the diamond, but he never lost his love for the game.
AJ's life can be summed up by his fierce competitiveness on and off the field, his dedication to others and his team, his commitment and willingness to never give up, and most of all his love for his mom and dad. He will always be an inspiration to all of those who he touched with those beautiful eyes and his heart stealing smile. We have all been graced by God to have known and loved him.
AJ is survived by his parents, Crystal Edwards and Allen Peregoy; grandparents, Christine Snow, Butch and Linda Peregoy; aunts and uncles, Travis Snow, Linda Lamb, Brian and Heather Peregoy; cousins, Taylor Snow and Devon Peregoy.
A celebration of AJ's life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2010, at the Fluvanna Middle School. AJ will be laid to rest at the Beaver Dam Cemetery by Sheridan Funeral Home in a private service.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be forwarded to Crystal Edwards, 4050 Richmond Road, Troy, VA 22974.
Allen and Crystal would like to extend their deepest appreciation and gratitude for all of your support, prayers, flowers, donations and especially the love that you have shared with their family over the last two years.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of AJ. My son played with him on the Brewers team several years ago when Allen was the coach. Our family never had the honor of meeting your son, AJ. My 8 year old heard of AJ's passing today and cried all the way home from practice. He was very saddened by this. We all are and we wish there was something that we could do or say to ease your hurt. I believe the Bible says to rejoice when one returns home to the Lord. Yes, our human hearts are hurting, but our spiritual souls should be elated to know that AJ is being rocked in the arms of Jesus at this moment. AJ is healthy, happy, and looking down on you; thanking you for your love, support, and for being the most wonderful and caring parents a child could ask for. I am the sister of Jimmy, Wayne and Maynard Peregoy,Sr. I'm from Poquoson, Va.and have tried to keep up with his health through Lisa's postings. My heart is broken though for the loss that you have suffered. Children are such a blessing from God and I know that you were blessed with this precious child for such a short time. Just hang on to those irreplacable memories and he'll always be close to you. We have lost a precious gift in AJ. Simple words can not express how sorry we are to hear of his passing. God had a better plan for AJ and even though us, the ones he's left behind can't understand it, take peace in knowing he's finally at rest and home with the Lord. If there is anything we could ever do, please don't hesitate to let any of us know. I know all of us would come running at first notice.

Little Angels
When God calls little children
to dwell with Him above.
We mortals sometimes question
the wisdom of His love.
for no heartache compares with
the death of one small child,
who does so much to make our world
seem wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling
the aged to His fold.
So He picks a rosebud
before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them
and so He takes but few,
to make the land of Heaven
more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult
still somehow me must try.
The saddest word mankind know
will always be "Goodbye".
So when a child departs
we who are left behind,
must realize God loves children,
Angels are hard to find.

Allen, Crystal and family...Our hearts are heavy and our thoughts are filled with you. Words cannot express how sincerely sorry we are for the loss of your shining light. Find strength in God, each other, and the many friends and family who want nothing more than to show their support. AJ died on our daughter's birthday. To the Peregoy family: I dont know you personally, but have been praying for AJ for quit a while now. It breaks my heart what your family is going thru and cannot imagine it myself. AJ is now at peace without pain and in our loving Fathers arms. I pray that God will bring the peace and comfort that you need to get thru this most difficult time.
