Morris Jr. Austin Sayer Morris Jr. departed this life on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born in Newark, New Jersey, on January 29, 1951, to the late Austin Sayer Morris Sr. and the Ruby McDowell of East Brunswick, New Jersey.

He graduated from A.G. Richardson High School and attended Virginia State University. Austin was a member of the Epworth Manor apartments family for over 20 years. He is known for lending and helping hand to anyone who needed it. His welcoming smile and hearty laugh will be missed by all.

Austin was preceded in death by his father, Austin S. Morris Sr.; stepmother, Bessie A. Morris; paternal grandparents, Alice Morris and James S. Morris; two aunts, Mabel Byrd and Virginia Pratt; one uncle, James A. Morris Sr.; a brother, Richard A. Morris; and a sister, Cynthia Cameron.

Austin is survived by one aunt, Elizabeth Lawrence of Burlington, New Jersey; one uncle, Billy Morris of Orange, New Jersey; brothers, Rodney S. Morris and wife, Colleen, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Roland Jr. and Ali McDowell, both of Newark, New Jersey; sisters, Sherika Morris-Wilkerson and husband, Tony, of Orange, Virginia, Carolyn McDowell of Monroe, New Jersey, Jackie McDowell of Newark, New Jersey, Alisha McDowell of Newark, New Jersey, and Barbara Johnson of Charlottesville, Virginia; nieces, Akia Morris and Ashley Tobe of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Chynna Wells of Orange, Virginia; nephews, Gyuine Wilkerson of Orange, Virginia, Rodney (Collin) Morris of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Stuart Morris of Richmond, Virginia; and a host of cousins and friends. Special friends include John "June" Epps and Hoye Hott.

A funeral service will be held at Zion Travelers Baptist Church in Louisa, 12 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011, with the Reverend Austin G. Bates officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Thomasson Watson Funeral Service Inc. of Louisa is handling the arrangements.
