Beverley Broun McClinton

Beverley Broun McClinton, 86, died on Monday, September 27, 2010, at her home at Farmington in Charlottesville, Virginia.

She was born in Charleston, West Virginia, on March, 14, 1924, of Beverley Broun and Mary Catesby Clay Broun. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Selby McClinton Jr.

She is survived by her children, James Selby McClinton III and his wife, Gina, Mary McClinton Clay and Beverley McClinton Stanley; grandchildren, Spencer Randolph McClinton, Virginia Broun McClinton and Mary Randolph Clay Stamper and her husband, Jason, and their daughter, Mary Grace.

The family wishes to recognize the love and devotion by Mrs. McClinton's caregivers Emily Watson, Harriet Forrest, and Patricia Taylor.

Mrs. McClinton graduated from St. Anne's School, St. Mary's School in Raleigh and Hollins College. She lived in Parkersburg, West Virginia, from 1948 until 1983. She was a member of the Junior League and Parkersburg Country Club and President of the Henry Logan's Children Home and the Parkersburg Day Nursery. She moved to Charlottesville in 1983 and was a member of the Junior League, the Contemporary Club and Farmington Country Club. She was also a member of the Monticello Cabinet and Jefferson Circle.

She was a member of the Order of First Families of Virginia 1607 -1620, Jamestowne Society and National Society of Colonial Dames, the Everglades Club, Palm Beach and Metropolitan Club in New York.

Private graveside services will be conducted in Parkersburg in West Virginia.

Friends will be received in Charlottesville after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Mrs. McClinton's home at Farmington Drive.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg.
