Dale and Shirley Ann Parrott

Dale and Shirley Ann Parrott were tragically and suddenly taken away from their families in Orange, Virginia, on July 31, 2010. They were longtime residents of Alexandria, Virginia, before retiring in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Dale was a member and former president of the Optimist Club, as well as the Knights of Columbus. He served in both the United States Navy and the United States Army. After retiring from the United States Army as a civilian, he began a second career at the Charlottesville airport, where he was a "jack of all trades". Dale was a loving husband, father, uncle, and a great provider to his family. He was everyone's friend and always had a smile on his face.

Dale was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Brennan Parrott; and a sister, Linda Manning.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Stacy Heresi and her husband, Carlos, and Deanna Parrott; sisters, Sharon and Marsha Parrott; nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Shirley Ann was a member of the Unity Church of Charlottesville, loved to dance, garden, cook for her family and friends, and had an extreme love for her pets. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and daughter, and was known for her beauty.

Shirley Ann is survived by her son, Stu Ellis Jr.; daughters, Sarah and Rebecca Gaunt; siblings, Edward and Patti Ottens; as well as extended family and a host of friends.

A military funeral service will be held for Dale at Fort Myer's Old Post Chapel, 2:45 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010, with interment to follow for both Dale and Shirley Ann at Arlington National Cemetery.
