Dale Whitten Ball

Dale Whitten Ball Sr., 78, of Louisa, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009.

He was born in Bluefield, West Virginia, September 29, 1931, to Charles Edward Ball and Mattie Short Ball.

Dale served his country during WW II in the United States Army. He worked as a roofing contractor, and was an avid Washington Redskins fan, he loved reading, especially history, watching western movies and listening to Bluegrass music.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Joy Lynn Spitzer and her husband, Harold, of Louis; his sons, Dale Whitten Ball Jr., and Wayne Edward Ball and his wife, Dorothy, all of Charlottesville; his sisters, Willie Mae Hess, Hazel V. Ford, and Delores J. Smith; his grandchildren, Maria, Damien, Eric, Amber, Jessica, and Elizabeth; his great grandchildren, Dallas M. Barnes and Blake M. Barnes; numerous nieces and nephews, to include a special great niece, Cindy Draves and her daughter, Sam Draves; and a special friend his cat "Shadow".

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Elizabeth Ball; his brothers, Charles E. Ball Jr., Jackie W. Ball, and Ralph E. Ball, and a grandson, Justin R. Marshall.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Woodward Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009, at the Woodward Funeral Home Chapel, The Reverend Mike Nickle will officiate. Burial will be private.
