Daniel Stephens Obituary
Daniel Stephens, 26, of Ruckersville, left us suddenly due to an automobile accident Friday, June 11, 2010, in Greene County.
He was born October 12, 1983, in Charlottesville.
Daniel was a supervisor for Hearth Wood Apartments in Charlottesville. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing softball, shooting pool and playing in many tournaments. He spent Friday and Saturday nights hanging out with his 29 Crew and they will miss him. His life was cut short, but Daniel lived it to the fullest with his family and friends, whom dearly loved him.
He is survived by his grandmothers, Gladys Stephens and Vergie Shifflett; parents, Tommy Shifflett and Debra Turner; his wife, Sammy Stephens; two sons, Colton Stephens and Caleb Stephens; three brothers, Jermey Stephens, Zach Stephens and Melvin Shifflett Jr.; three sisters, Connie Dudley, Beverley Lawhorn and Carrie Wilson; a special nephew, Dusty Shifflett; a special uncle and aunt, Junior and Sandra Morris; special cousin, Joey Morris; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison, conducted by Pastor Glenn Shifflett.
The interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Charlottesville.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, June 15, 2010, at the funeral home.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.

I didn't know Daniel well, I only ever saw him when he would come to get his hair cut by me. He always made me laugh... He was such a sweet, polite young man and I am so sad that he is no longer with us. I will miss him. As a mother myself, I can not say I know what you are feeling because we all grieve differently, but as losing Tristen (my 11 year old son)on May 18th of this year I can say I can relate to what you are going through. It will be a month on Friday & we still think about, miss Tristen & cry everyday. We do ask the Lord for strength to help us get through this. I can tell you, you will have better days not really good days but they do get better. Keep talking about Daniel, don't let his memory die with him. We talk about Tristen all the time, that helps us get through the day. I'm sorry for your loss, we are not suppose to question why things happen but yet we do and we get no answers. The Lord needed two great Angels & he got them when he got our children. The most special thing about getting our children is my son Tristen was born on Daniel's birthday October 12th, 1998. Daniel was a sweet person, I had the luxury of getting to know him as I was a resident at Hearthwood. He was nice, professional, funny and a good person.
