Donnie Hackett Obituary
Donnie Rogers Hackett, 66, of Ponderosa Lane, Wingina, Virginia, died on Wednesday night, June 23, 2010, at his residence, after an extended illness.
Donnie was born on September 2, 1943, in Buckingham County, a son of the late Tally Hampton Hackett and Vera Stroup Hackett.
He was employed by Craig Construction Company of Shipman.
Donnie was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved the outdoors and most of all loved his grandchildren whom was Poppa to them.
He is survived by his dedicated and devoted wife, Linda Ann Hackett; two daughters, Pam Harvie of Mechanicsville and Jennifer Taylor of Wingina' two sisters, Ida Bryant of Appomattox and Judy Rosser of York, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Joey Harvie, Kimberly Taylor, Jessica Harvie, Josh Taylor and Matt Taylor; and four very special nieces whom devoted their time to care for Donnie and assist Linda; a very special friend and hunting buddy, James "Woody" McFadden; as well as many other close friends and family.
A funeral service will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with Pastor Buddy Bryant officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service and suggest that memorials take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Hills in Lynchburg.
