Edward Knight Obituary
He was born on February 13, 1934, to Gertrude Rigsby Knight and Jake Layton Knight.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jacob Knight, Zeb Hampton "Happy" Knight and Floyd Knight; his sisters, Eula Knight Proffitt and Carrie Knight Dabney; and one grandson, John Maynor.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Nancy Palmer Knight; his eight children, Sharon Knight Wolford and her husband, Kevin, Sandra Knight Frazer and her husband, Mark, Edward "Eddie Buck" Knight Jr. and his fiancee, Barbara McAllister, Patricia Knight Nickell and her husband, Ronald Nickell Jr., Esther Knight Hantz and her husband, Jim, Theresa Knight Shifflett and her husband, Rick, Tamela Knight Mabe, and Mark Knight and his wife, Viola. He is also survived by four stepchildren, Connie Palmer, Rickey Palmer, Wayne Palmer and Greg Palmer. He also leaves to cherish is memories, his sisters, Violet Knight Bright and Louise Knight High; and 27 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren, whom he dearly loved.
Ed proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951 until 1955. He loved flowers, gardening, his cats, farming, fishing and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2010, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Troy, with the Reverend Greg Wissinger and the Reverend Ron Nickell Sr. officiating.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Shannon Wolford, Matthew Wolford, Justin Shifflett, Zack Shifflett, Eric Nickell and Corey Knight.
Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Sheridan Funeral Home of Kents Store is in charge of arrangements.

In tears we watched you sinking, We watched you fade away But when we saw you sleeping, So peaceful free from pain, We could not wish you back To suffer more again. It broke our hearts to see you go But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home."

I'am so sorry to hear about my dear Friend Ed,my heart hurts for this entire Family for this loss.Always enjoyed our telephone chats and the laughs that went with it. I will miss talking to my Friend. "Many people walk in and out of your life.But only true Friends will leave Footprints on your heart" and this was the way Ed and my Friendship was.I truely lost one of my Dearest Friends. God Bless each one as you come to the terms of this lost.
