Elizabeth Yager Walton

Elizabeth Yager Walton, of Greensboro, 42, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Wesley Long Community Hospital, after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2010, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Virginia Herring officiating.

Mrs. Walton was born on March 15, 1968, in Richmond. She was raised in Charlottesville, and graduated from Albemarle High School and Virginia Tech. She was an avid reader, loved to travel and listen to violin music and enjoyed watching soccer matches. She was also a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and was an active volunteer with Greensboro Day School Parents' Association.

She was predeceased by her grandparents C.J.M. and Charlotte Dotson Kyle of Orange, and William Michael and Virginia Faulconer Yager of Somerset, Orange County.

Beth is survived by her husband of 15 years, John Huffman Walton; daughter, Clara Kyle Walton; and son, Hugh Gresham Walton. She is also survived by her parents, J. Gordon Yager Sr. and Rita Kyle Yager of Charlottesville; brother, James G. Yager Jr. and his wife, Beth, of Spotsylvania; brother-in-law, Thomas E. Walton III, and his wife, Cheryl, of Gates, North Carolina; and two nieces, Lily Ruth Yager and Hannah Noel Walton.

Following the memorial service, a reception will be held at the Haywood Duke Room at the church. The family will also receive friends at the home during other times.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kid's Path/Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2504 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405, or to Greensboro Day School in support of financial assistance, 5401 Lawndale Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27455.
