Hazel Walker Brown

Hazel Walker Brown, 80, of Cismont, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. She passed away at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 8, 1929, in Cismont, a daughter of the late Percy F. Walker and Dulcie V. Walker. Mrs. Brown was a retired preschool teacher and a lifetime member of Grace Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Brown of Cismont; two daughters, Debra L. Nidel and hr husband, Bill, Lorrie Anne Bricker and her husband, Bill; one son, Thomas L. Brown and his wife, Darlene; two brothers, Earl F. Walker and his wife, Ruby, James W. Walker and his wife, Ruth; two sisters, Helen W. Chisolm and her husband, Everett, Myra Lee Sandridge and her husband, Don; five grandchildren, T.J. Stargell, Danielle Bricker, Alex Brown, Miranda Bricker and Anna Brown; one great-grandchild, Lexi Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Grace Episcopal Church in Cismont with interment to follow at the church cemetery. The Reverend Julie Norton will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2010, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

We are saddened to learn of Hazel's passing. She was a dear, gentle lady, and faithful member of Grace Church during our years there. Our children join us in sending our deepest sympathy to you all. May God give you the only comfort there is: His love and support.
