James Roger Coffey

James Roger Coffey, "Bumpy", 62, of Roseland, died Sunday, November 22, 2009, at the Augusta Medical Center.

He was born November 27, 1946, the son of the late Elsie Coffey Truslow.

He was a self-employed logger for many years and was a member of Beech Grove Christian Church. "Bumpy" loved his pet and companion, "Yellow", his horses and working on old trucks.

He is survived by three sisters, Patricia Napier of Nellysford, Frances Whitesell of Lyndhurst and Rebecca Shively of Amherst; uncles, Pat Coffey of Waynesboro and Paul Coffey and his wife, Katherine, of Afton; cousin and caretaker, Marie Napier and her husband, Norman, of Nellysford and their son, Harold Wayne; cousins, Joe Coffey and his wife, Faye, of Orange and Patsy Glass and her husband, John, of Waynesboro; a life-long buddy, Roger Viar and his wife, Beth; and numerous cousins and nieces.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Susie Coffey, and aunt, Elizabeth "Sis" Coffey, who raised him.

Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2009, at Beech Grove Cemetery by Robert Mansfield. Active pallbearers will be Donald Dinkie Fitzgerald, Mike Taylor, Raymond "Baby Ray" Fitzgerald, Bennie Bryant, Keith "Bo" Dodd, and Greg Lipscomb.

The family will receive friends at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009.
