Jerry Edward Diehr

Jerry Edward Diehr, 48, of North Garden, Virginia, went home to be with his Heavenly Father for eternal rest on Monday, May 4, 2009.

He was born October 10, 1960, the son of the late Robert E. and Nancy M. Diehr.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and his uncles, Butch Hicks, Bobby Hicks, and Billy Hicks, all formerly of Charlottesville.

He is survived by his sisters, Phyllis D. Napier and her husband, Gary, of Troy; Kathy Y. Walker and her husband, Kenny "Kenneth", of North Garden; Teresa S. Ziolkowski and her husband, Rudy, of Charlottesville; Tina Diehr-Harper and her husband, Richard "Rick" of Troy. He is also survived by his brother, Carlton R. Diehr and his wife, Bonnie, of Charlottesville; his aunt, Shirley Ladd and her husband, Douglas, and their son, Eddie Ladd; six nieces, two nephews, six great-nephews and three great-nieces, as well as a host of other relatives.

He is survived by a very special niece, Amanda Diehr, who was his softball buddy and he taught her everything she ever wanted to know about softball and a very special great-niece Kelcie Mae Rider, who, for the majority of her life, has seen her almost every day of her life and she has tried to keep him on his toes.

Jerry attended Charlottesville High School. Jerry was employed by Frank Ix and Sons until 1999.

Jerry loved fishing, hunting, playing softball, watching the Virginia Cavalier sports, and the annual family trip to Nags Head, North Carolina. Jerry will be remembered by his bright smile, his infectious laugh, and his giving heart.

A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church in North Garden, Virginia. The service will be conducted by Mr. James H. Walker, a close friend of the family. Burial will be private.
