John Casteen Obituary

John T. Casteen Jr. John T. Casteen Jr., 88, of Chesapeake, died on Thursday, November 11, 2010, in Chesapeake, following a long illness.

A native of Cradock, now part of Portsmouth, Virginia, he was a retired employee of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth. He served last as Submarine Repair Production Manager. He also served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Irene Anderson Casteen; sons, John T. Casteen III of Charlottesville and Timothy E. Casteen and Dennis P. Casteen of Chesapeake, and their wives; as well as his twin sister, Doris McClenney of McGaheysville, Virginia; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Burial was private.

A memorial service is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2010, at The Alliance Church in Portsmouth.
