Judson & Ida Mae were instrumental in helping to mold my youth. We were members of Bethel and grew up with their children. I will always remember him at church and at his home. While my mother and grandmother would get their hair "done" at Ida Mae's shop, we children would play and visit with Bo and Rhonda.
My prayers are with you and your family. Love in Christ - Robin Thomas Beach

I heard what happend in the passing of Mr. Carter the other day but as a kid he didn't mind me calling him Jud or Judson. I've known Judson all the way back when I was 3 or 4 yrs old.

Judson and my Dad were very good, hunting buddies, farm workers and close friends. I can still remember always spending the weekends on the Carter farm helping out everyway that I could as a young kid. Judson gave me the nickname "Jake" and I never understood why but as a kid it stuck and I was known even as I got older to Judson as "Jake". I will always remember seeing him in the "Sugar Shack" making Saturday and Sunday EARLY morning breakfast before working on the farm or going to the cattle auction. Judson always worked hard from sunrise to sunset. Along with my Dad, Judson showed me as a young kid on how to always work hard, finish the job and tell a good joke. He was always full of life, smiling and when the day was done still had enough energy to have family and friends around. He also showed me to enjoy the life of dogs which has carried on into my adult life that the love and loyalty for a dog hunting or domestic will live a long time unconditionally and even though I don't have any pictures or videos to post of my life experiences with Judson, I can tell you that the memories and experiences that I shared from early childhood to being an adult now, I will always cherish and remember. I'm still shocked and sadden knowing that everytime that I come home to Virginia now to visit Mom & Dad, as I look over to my left at the Carter farm, going down the hill passing the garden on the corner, the cow field and the life experiences as a child that Arrington will be missing a great friend and teacher. Mr. Judson Carter, I never did thank you for those memories and experiences but I hope you're looking down above and know now that I appreciate them. Thank You!!

Dear Carter family, we are so sorry to hear of your loss. We became instant friends with Judson the day we met him while visiting our son Russell.
He always seemed like the brother I never had and I shall always miss his smiling face when we are in Arrington. Your community will be at a tremendous loss without him. Russ and Darlene will always remember him and his generous nature. May God give you strength during the next few months to take this loss in stride by knowing he is with God and looking down on you.

Judson has been our friend and neighbor from the first day we moved to VA in 2002. He always had a joke for us and was one of the most giving people I have ever known. Judson enjoyed sharing fresh vegetables from his garden and anything else that he had that he thought we would like. His big smile, firm hand shake and love will be missed in our home.
Judson was the kind of neighbor that I hope to be some day. Buck (a.k.a Russell Owings)

I (Phil) had gotten to learn and know a little about Mr. Carter thru the stories and jokes that Darrell would often share with me. Darrell clearly had a special relationship with his father-in-law and from the photos that Darrell had shared, clearly his grandson, Chad, also shared a special relationship with his grandfather.

When it was expected that I would meet Mr. Carter, Darrell and Rhonda wondered what nickname he would bestow upon me…as that was how he remembered people. I, now known as Pete Ro'e, finally had the courtesy of meeting Mr. Carter and sharing a brief time with him, Darrell, and Chad. Having shared this experience with Peggy, she was looking forward to the time in which she might be able to meet him and see what interesting nickname he might give her.

We had learned from both Darrell & Rhonda of his devotion to his wife, Ida Mae and pray for God to give her comfort. His sudden passing was certainly a shock to Peggy & I. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, particularly Rhonda, Darrell, and Chad.

To Judson's family I am truly sorry to hear of his passing. I worked at the Ch'ville Livestock Market a few years ago and met him there. He was a very nice man and talked about his family. He cooked a pig for my son's wedding. I haven't seen him in a while but always thought of him fondly. My prayers are with you.
