Martha Louise Freeman Holley

Martha Louise Freeman Holley, 92, residing at Caraway Manor Assisted Living, in Elkton, Maryland, died on Sunday, June 27, 2010.

She was born in Los Angeles, California, on July 21, 1917, the daughter of the late Milton C. and Elsie (Binning) Freeman. Martha was a homemaker and nursing assistant. She enjoyed volunteering, including being a volunteer at Martha Jefferson Hospital. She enjoyed traveling. She was a faithful member of several Lutheran Churches, including St. Mark Lutheran Church, Charlottesville.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Herbert L. Holley Sr.; a son, Grant L. Holley; a sister, Mildred Rogers; and a stepsister, Leeta Freeman.

She is survived by a sister, Nell Kleiner of Seal Beach, California; two sons, Herbert L. Holley Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of North East, Maryland, and the Reverend Robert F. Holley and his wife, Janet, of Summerville, South Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Peggie L. Kosmicki and her husband, Tim, of Manassass, Virginia; seven grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Riverview Cemetery, Charlottesville.

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, contributions may be made to the memorial fund at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 100 Alderman Rd., Charlottesville, VA 22903.
