Roger Lee Harrelson

Roger Lee Harrelson, 66, or Sumter, South Carolina, beloved husband of the late Donna Lee Gilmore Harrelson, died on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Hanover County, North Carolina, a son of the late Mary Elizabeth Dix and Mr. and Mrs. Eber Slatch Harrelson Sr.

Roger was a self-employed carpenter and builder who loved woodworking and was an avid golfer and a former member of the Christian Golfer's Association. He was a very loving father, grandfather, loved being around his family, his friends and was a member of the Northside Memorial Baptist Church, where he was active in the church Sunday school.

Surviving are three daughters, Kristi Paige Connor and her fiance, Steven Kaldro, Mindi Sue DuBose and her husband, Wayne, and Ashley Harrelson Moore and her husband, Christopher, all of Sumter; a brother, Bobby Ray Harrelson of Maine; two sisters, Mary Katherine Healan of Sumter and Patricia Darlene Harrelson of Florida; eight grandchildren, Tyler V. Connor, Mary Katherine A. Connor, Ross E. Connor, Hunter L. Lowery, Abigail M. Lowery, Joshua W. DuBose, Brittany N. DuBose and Amanda G. DuBose; and his constant four legged companion "Winston".

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eber Slatch Harrelson Jr. and James Edward Harrelson.

A funeral service in Sumter will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Northside Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverend Jimmy Holley officiating.

The family will receive friends in Sumter from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Bullock Funeral Home.

A funeral service in Orange, Virginia, will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010, at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel, 250 West Main Street, Orange, Virginia. Burial will follow at Rose Park Cemetery in Wolftown, Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Preddy Funeral Home in Orange, Virginia.
