Ruth Johanna Tingley

Ruth Johanna Tingley, 64, of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2010, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Ruth was born on April 14, 1945, in Pfaffenhofen/Ilm, Germany, to the late Anna and Karl Mannhardt. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Isle Jones, of Texas.

Ruth enjoyed nurturing her flower gardens, she loved traveling with her husband and family, bird watching and reading while relaxing by the pool. But most of all Ruth loved spending time with her family and friends. Ruth worked at National Legal Research Group for 30 years before retiring in January 2009.

Ruth leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Warren H. Tingley; her two sons, Derrick G. Morris and his wife, B.J., of Charlottesville, and Jeffrey Morris of Ruckersville; and one sister, Hildegard Kraus of Indiana. She also leaves behind her six stepchildren, Steve Tingley and his wife, Terri, of New Jersey, Bob Tingley and his wife, Dolores, of Earlysville, Gary Tingley and his wife, Jeri, of Charlottesville; Jim Tingley of St. Thomas, United States Virginia Islands, Tom Tingley and his wife, Pam, of Charlottesville, and Susan Alexandrovich of Massachusetts. Also surviving are grandsons, Nicholas Morris and Connor Morris; stepgrandchildren, Matthew Tingley, Megan Tingley, Bryce Tingley, Ben Tingley and Kristal Petrovich.

The family would like to sincerely express their appreciation to Hospice of the Piedmont for their dedicated care and compassion during her illness.

Visitation and the memorial service will be held at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010.

The memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911

I worked at National Research several years ago. Ruth was a very sweet person. I always enjoyed being around her and espically listening to her talk. I remember her love for flowers. I am sorry to hear of her passing and I want to let her family know that they are in my prayers.
