Sandra Sullivan Carpenter

Sandra Sullivan Carpenter, 53, of Barboursville, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

Sandie was born February 21, 1956, in Takoma Park, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clayton and Ruby Avery; and her paternal grandparents, Earl Sullivan and Ruby Sullivan Shifflett.

Sandie is survived by her husband, Roger Carpenter; her parents, Ivan Ray Sullivan and June Avery Sullivan of Stanardsville; two sons, Jason Harris and his wife, Michelle, of Augusta, Georgia, Billy Boggs of Schuyler; two brothers, Ivan R. Sullivan Jr., Robert Sullivan and his wife, Manuela, all of Stanardsville; three grandchildren, Nicole Harris of Baltimore, Maryland, Sierra Pritchett of Stanardsville, Rock Harris of Augusta, Georgia; three nephews; two nieces and many other family members and friends.

Sandie had been a member of Swift Run Baptist Church for 10 years. She was employed at Kroger at Rio Hill and for a number of years was a member of the Greene County Rescue Squad.

The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009, at the Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2009, at the Ryan Funeral Home with the Reverend Mark Holder officiating. Interment will follow at Prize Hill Cemetery, Free Union.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be given to the Greene County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 302, Stanardsville, VA 22973 or the Swift Run Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 426, Stanardsville, VA 22973.
