Thelma Delph Jarrell

Thelma Delph Jarrell, 88, of Wolftown, died on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born on February 20, 1922, in Wolftown, Madison County, Virginia, the daughter of the late John W. Delph and Mary J. Marks Delph and wife of the late Ira Clinton "Kenny" Jarrell. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Ann Jarrell; and a brother, Willie B. Delph.

Mrs. Jarrell was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be remembered by her kind, gentle and loving way of life. She never met a stranger and was loved by everyone.

Mrs. Jarrell was the oldest living member of Rapidan Baptist Church in Wolftown, where she was very active in Bible study, Sunday school and church social events. She retired from the American Silk Mill in Orange after 20 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Agnes Anderson and her friend, Sterlon Martin, of Wolftown; a granddaughter, Donna K. Apperson and her husband, Allen, of Charlottesville.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Rapidan Baptist Church with interment at Rose Park Rapidan Cemetery. The Reverend Jennifer Kelly and Pastor Steve Malone will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2010, at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison.

Donna, Iam so sorry to hear about your Grandmother. You will be lost without her. You spent so much time with her and took such good care of her. Please take comfort in the fact that she is in a better place, and you will be with her again one day.
