Verna Crowe Obituary

Published by Daily Progress from Apr. 23 to Apr. 25, 2010.
Verna Marian Crowe

Verna Marian Crowe, 84, of Charlottesville, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, with family by her side.

Verna was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 15, 1925, to William J. and Ida M. Fox.

She married the love of her life, Willard K. Crowe on April 3, 1946. She was happily married for 34 years, raising a family and traveling until widowed in 1980. In 1988, she moved from Ohio to Virginia to be close to her daughter, Mrs. Michael (Connie) Rosene.

Verna was active in the First United Methodist Church and the Maple Grove Christian Church of Charlottesville, as well as the 20/20 Ministry. As an active member of the Maple Grove Christian Church OPALS, she was renowned for her ability to create decorative arrangements for any holiday or social function and was also an accomplished seamstress. She gave generously of her time and creative spirit to those in need.

Verna is survived by her daughter, Connie; a sister, Mrs. Chauncey (Myrtle) Myers of Oxon Hill, Maryland; and her beloved dog "Buttons."

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors and staff at the University of Virginia Medical Center, most especially those in the Cardiac Device Clinic; Legacy Hospice; Rosewood Village; and Verna's many friends, neighbors, and extended family who helped her through the good times and bad.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Verna's name to the Charlottesville SPCA , the ARC of the Piedmont or other charity of their choice.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia, with Roger Browning officiating. Interment will be private.

Ryan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Verna was a wonderful loving lady that many will miss her. She was always there to decorate , give advice, suggestions or just a praise. Verna was responsible for our wedding reception six years ago, otherwise we would had no memories of the reception. I just hope she knew in her heart how much Maple Grove, 20/20 and the OPALS loved her and appreciated her. She will be missed and fondly remembered!

I am saddened by the loss of Verna. We will all miss her, her name baby blocks, her smiling face and her words of encouragement. I am happy to call her my friend. I find comfort that she is in a new home and at peace with God and Jesus. She already is greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family that they may be comforted in this difficult time.
