Yancey Michael Yowell Jr.

Yancey Michael Yowell Jr., 72, of Barboursville, died on Monday, October 18, 2010, in Charlottesville.

He was born on January 18, 1938, in Pratts, Virginia, the son of the late Yancey Michael Yowell Sr. and Ruth Carpenter Yowell.

Mr. Yowell was a member of Mount Nebo Lutheran Church in Rochelle and was retired from Murray Manufacturing in Earlysville.

He is survived by his wife, Betty M. Yowell of Barboursville; one daughter, Tammy Yowell Gallihugh and her husband, William of Orange; two sons, Larry S. Yowell and his wife, Melinda, of Troy, Todd M. Yowell and his wife, Pamela, of Somerset; three sisters, Betty Mae Purdham and her husband, Elwood, of Salisbury, North Carolina, Emily Y. Brittain and her husband, Fritz, of Rochelle, and Mary Ann Berrey and her husband, Harold, of Keswick.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2010, at Mount Nebo Lutheran Church with interment at the church cemetery. Pastor Patricia Nabers will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison.

The family would like to thank Dr. Geoffrey R. Weiss and the cancer staff at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
