Barrett, Linda C. (DeSena) - 66, Madison
Linda C. Barrett (DeSena) AGE: 66 • Madison Linda C. Barrett (DeSena), age 66 of Madison, NJ, died early in the morning hours of May 15, 2015, surrounded by all the love her family and many friends could bestow. She courageously, and with faith, faced the inevitable after learning that her illness was terminal, providing a role-model of dignity and grace. She is survived by her husband, Thomas C. Barrett, her daughter, Carrie Ann Barresi, her lovely granddaughters, Ashlyn Paige and Sarah-Kate, her father, Thomas DeSena, Sr., her sister, Diane, her brother, Thomas DeSena, Jr., and his wife Kathy, her nephew, Thomas DeSena, III, and her niece, Jamie. Linda was raised on Normandy Heights Road in Morristown and was a 1966 graduate of Bayley Ellard High School, briefly attending Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY. During her retail career, she was employed at such firms as B. Altman, What's New, and Monterey Gourmet. An energetic and engaging person, she had a gift for reaching out to those less fortunate. But her foundational strength was her utter devotion to family, especially to her daughter and granddaughters. Those who knew her well will long remember her sparkling laughter and pure joy in sharing the latest news of her "girls". Through them, she found her true sense of passion and purpose. A life-long interest in birds led Linda to begin each day with a trip to the backyard birdfeeder, accompanied by her Weimaraner, Callie, and one or two children when they were in town. She was always concerned that the beautiful birds find a safe place. For her, the pain and suffering are now over and her spirit is soaring home to a welcoming God. We will miss her but find comfort in her freedom. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral , Monday, May 18, at 9am from the Madison Memorial Home 159 Main St . Madison with a funeral mass at 10am at St. Vincent Martyr church, Madison. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visitation sunday 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society in her memory would be appreciated.
