Dave Keirs, age 79, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to his eternal rest on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012. He was born in Annbank, Scotland, and came to the United States, travelling by ship at the tender age of 17. He met, fell in love & married Betty in 1956. He was employed as a consultant in the Natural Gas Industry; he and his family travelled to Holland, Belgium & Australia during the years he was consulting. He returned to the US where he worked as an appliance repairman and then a maintenance engineer for Sears Roebuck & Co in Livingston, New Jersey. He retired from Sears & moved from Rockaway, NJ, to Port St Lucie, FL, in 1996. He collected coins & beer steins from the many places he lived. He loved to fish, and later in life, was an avid reader.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 56 years, Betty Keirs. He was a loving father to his daughter, Peggy Culbertson & son-in-law, Lonnie Culbertson of Jensen Beach; his son, John Keirs & daughter-in-law, Genia Keirs of Port St Lucie; and his daughter-in law, Debra Keirs of Seminole. He is pre-deceased by his sons, Daniel & David Keirs. He was a loving grandfather to Evan, Blake, Dylan & Harley Keirs and Tiffany Yargeau. He was great grandpa to Gianna Johnston & Alyssa Yargeau & DeeJay Keirs.
A visitation and short Memorial Service will be held at All County Funeral Home in Stuart/Jensen Beach on Saturday, October 6th from 1:00 to 3:00pm.
