Edward Thomas Galvin

Born Nov. 16, 1951, in Summit, N.J., and raised in Whippany, N.J., Ed was the son of Edward J. Galvin Jr. and Avril Mai Lyons Galvin. Ed earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science-Human Ecology from Ramapo College of New Jersey. After settling in Oregon, Ed and his good friend Ed Merrill formed Ed Brothers Construction. Ed taught Geodesic Dome Building at OSU College. Ed was certified and licensed by the United States Coast Guard as both Master and mechanic of inland steam and motor vessels able to operate and navigate passenger carrying ships. He was passionate about the environment, the outdoors, fishing, golf and gardening. He worked with the Seavy Avenue Wetlands Association monitoring state and local government plans to develop wetlands. Always the scholar, Ed fueled his intellect with novels, film noir and public radio. He loved baseball all his life-Little League, high school and later as a teammate of the Working Stiffs Team in Corvallis. In his youth Ed was dubbed "Steady Eddy" by hometown press. He was a loyal New York Yankees Fan. Ed was a true friend in the deepest sense of the word. He courageously fought multiple sclerosis for 44 years with dignity and grace.

Ed leaves to cherish his memory his four sisters, Susan Domorski, Jean (Don) Cochario, Carol Shaw, Marjorie (Kevin) Leahey; an uncle Bill R.Woods and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and treasured friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11:00 am Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, Whippany. Internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Whippany VFW immediately following.
