Evelyn N. Boyer

Evelyn Nilsen Boyer passed away on Jan. 16, 2013 in Morristown, NJ of natural causes. She was 84. She was predeceased by her second husband, W. Philip Boyer, veterinarian of Morris Plains, NJ. Mrs. Boyer held a degree in Physical Therapy from New York University
and worked to stop the spread of polio. She became a medical administrative assistant. As a lover of dogs, cats, and small animals, Mrs. Boyer gave generously of her time to the following organizations: the Somerset Hills Kennel Club, St. Hubert's Giralda, the Animal Welfare Federation of New Jersey, the Morris County Park Commission, and the New Jersey Audubon Society. For more than 20 years she tirelessly advocated pet visitation to improve the well-being of the sick and the aged, helping to train numerous volunteers with pets. She was secretary of Alpha Affiliates, Inc., an organization dedicated to the teaching of the healing power of the human-animal bond. She was elected to Life Membership in the English Cocker Spaniel Club of America, the American Bloodhound Club, the National Police Bloodhound Association, and the Association of Bloodhound Breeders - UK. She is survived by three stepchildren: Philip P. Boyer of Gilenmoore, PA, Julia B. Kaim of Essex Fells, NJ., Lynn B. Ferrillo of Harvard, MA., and five step grandchildren. Interment is private. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, Madison NJ.
