Frank "Vasey" Vegsö

Frank "Vasey" Vegsö passed away with his family at his side on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Compassionate Care Hospice/Dover General. He was 98 years of age. Frank was born in Mt. Hope and lived in the Wharton/Dover area for his entire life until moving to the Lake Shawnee section of Jefferson Twp. in 2005. He served as the Wharton Police Chief, volunteered for the Wharton First Aid Squad and Wharton Fire Department. At Picatinny Arsenal, he worked as a machinist and retired from the fire department after many years of service. Frank also operated the Kossuth Hall, now known as the Canal House in Wharton, NJ. Frank loved to spend time gardening, cooking, fishing and hunting.

Pre-deceased by his wife, Mary (nee Lojun) in 1995 and his baby sister, Julia in 1921. Survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Kowzun and husband George of Kenvil; granddaughter, Ashley Kowzun of Kenvil; sister, Margaret Corigliano of Boonton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 2-6pm on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A funeral service will be held 10am on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover. Donations to Holy Wisdom Byzantine Catholic Church, 197 Emmans Rd., Flanders, NJ 07836 would be appreciated as well as flowers, which Frank loved. Offer condolences at
