Harold H. Margolies
AGE: 88 • Lake Parsippany
Harold H. Margolies, age 88, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at his home with his loving family at his side. Born in Newark, Harold moved to Lake Parsippany in 1966 where he and his wife, Terry raised their three sons. Harold served in the United States Navy
during World War II
from February 24th 1943 until being honorably discharged with the rank of Quarter Master 3rd Class on February 9th 1946. He was especially proud of serving on the destroyer, USS Thompson during the D-Day Invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. Harold was a sheet metal worker with Local 25 in Carlstadt for 40 years before retiring in 1980. He was a longtime member of the Lake Hiawatha Senior Club where he and his wife, Terry enjoyed the club's many trips and activities. Harold was also a member of Saint Peter the Apostle R.C. Church's Senior Citizen Club and the Tin Can Sailors.
Harold was pre-deceased by his wife of 55 years, Terry (nee-Dubin); his sisters, Helen Kelner and Lillian Singer. Survivors include his sons, Howard and his wife, Christine of Lakewood, Edward and his partner, Jon of San Francisco, CA and Richard of Parsippany.
