Henrietta C. Adessa, age 73, of Lopatcong NJ, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Adessa was born November 20, 1937 in Newark, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Constantine "Gus" DiSessa and the late Raquel (Fiore) DiSessa. Mrs. Adessa graduated from Barringer High School in Newark NJ in 1955. She received her Teaching Degree from Kean College in 1959. She later received her Masters Degree in Education from Montclair State College. She started teaching Elementary School for the Bloomfield School District and later she taught at the Dickerson School in Chester Twp. for many years. She married her husband Frank A. Adessa in 1960 and moved to Chester Twp. in 1969. Her husband, the late Frank A. Adessa went on to become the Mayor of Chester Twp. from 1979-1988. Mrs. Adessa was the Morris County Republican Committee woman for many years. She was a founding Member, Past President and Charter Member of the Chester Lioness Club, a member of the Chester Bicentennial Club, and was on the Board of "CASH" - Chester Area Senior Housing. She was an original founder of the West Morris Central Music Parent Assoc. and was a member of the PTA in both Newark and Chester Twp. Mrs. Adessa enjoyed entertaining and her times at the casino. Most importantly she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed going to her grandchildren's sporting events and recitals.
She is survived by three daughters: Lauren Adessa Mogavero of Florham Park, NJ, Marea Adessa of Mt. Olive, NJ, and Jacquelyn Klimas of Franklin Twp., NJ, her brother: Frank DiSessa of Morris Plains, NJ and sister, Phyllis Sanfilippo of Hazlet, NJ. Her 6 grandchildren: Gina, Philip and Raquel Mogavero, Jared, Evan and Alyssa Klimas. Her husband Frank A. Adessa passed away in 2004.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, June 22 from 3:00PM-9:00PM at William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Rd., in Chester, NJ 07930. There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated on Thursday June 23rd at 10:30 am at Our Lady Of The Mountain Church in Long Valley, NJ. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester.
