Robert J. "Bob" Balz

ROBERT "BOB" J. BALZ AGE: 73 FORMERLY OF JEFFERSON TWP. Robert "Bob" J. Balz, 73, of Mt. Pocono, PA passed away on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009. Born Feb. 2, 1936 in Pittston, PA to the late J. Berchman, Sr. and Theresa (Hurst) Balz. He lived in the Berkshire Valley section of Jefferson Twp. for 32 years moving to Mt. Pocono 6 years ago. For 30 years he and his brother, Pep, were partners in Balz Kitchen Cabinets, E. Hanover. Bob served with the 5th Armor/1st Cav. During the Korean Conflict. He attended St. Mary's of the Mount R. C. Church, Mt. Pocono. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 245 of Lake Hopatcong. While living in Jefferson Twp. he was in the Sports League, the Republican Club and served on the Board of Adjustments, Town council and County Committee. Pre-deceased by his sister, Teresa Stefano and brother, William "Bill" Balz. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Irene J. (Walsh) Balz; Son, Stephen J. Balz and his companion, Kim Higgins; Daughter, Karen Slusark and her husband, Frank; Three Grandsons, Daniel R. Balz, Brian J. and Matthew J. Slusark; Four Brothers, Joseph (Tim), John (Jack) B., Jr., Paul (Pep) and F. Wayne. Also survived by his Godmother, Genevieve Gerrity. Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 12th, 3-5 & 7-9 PM at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St. Wharton. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday 9:15 AM from the funeral home to a 10 AM Funeral Mass at Star of the Sea Church, Espanong Rd., Lake Hopatcong. Interment will follow at Berkshire Valley Presbyterian Cemetery, Jefferson Twp. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to the charity of your choice will be appreciated. Offer condolences at
