Robert L. Jolly, 80, of Madison Twp., PA, formerly of Long Valley, N.J. died Monday, May 13, 2013 at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. He was married to Elsie (Bortree) Jolly and they would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this December. Born in Rockaway Twp., NJ, he was the son of the late Edmund and Edna (Skinner) Jolly. Robert graduated from Dover High School and earned both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ. Before retiring, he worked as a systems analyst for Thiokol Chemical Corp./Reaction Motor Division, M&M/Mars and several other consulting jobs. Robert served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan after the Korean War
ended. He was an avid sports fan and attended all of the boys & girls basketball games at West Morris Central High School; he was their "Number One Fan."
In addition to his wife, Elsie, Robert is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Jolly of Madison Twp. & Debra Jolly of Herndon, VA and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Amelia Hersey, Dorothy Schoeck & Lottie Kershaw and his brothers, Jack & Jim Kershaw and Chad Jolly.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 17 at 10:30 am at Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3 First St in Spring Brook Twp. to be conducted by Rev. Billy Graham, pastor of Madisonville Christian Church. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst Twp.
