Sonja Annetta Jurrissen

AGE: 81 •

A Consummate Gardner, Sonja Annetta Jurrissen, on December 5, 2012 at the age of 81, lost her battle to COPD from Second Hand Smoke following a courageous life raising a wonderful daughter as a single mother and sole proprietor as a beautician. With a passion for gardening and sharing her knowledge of horticulture with her friends, Sonja chaired the Rexford Tucker House Garden Club with the tireless help of her friends and neighbors.

Those who have had the good fortune of knowing Sonja understand that she was among God's most precious people. Survived by her daughter, Michelle Ann Taylor, her husband John Taylor and Grand-Dog, Eddie, all of Madison, Sonja was sponsored to immigrate to the U.S. in the early 1980's from Holland.

A survivor of a WWII concentration camp, Sonja was the warmest and most caring person you could meet. An accomplished seamstress, knitter and clothing designer, her hobbies included gardening, bridge, her close friends and her daughter. Every aspect of her daughter's life enthralled her. Sonja will be sorely missed and always remembered.

Visiting for Sonja will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison. Service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sonja can be made to: Guiding Eyes For The Blind (www.guidingeyes.org). Envelopes will be provided by the Funeral Home.
